Wilmington police: Man with stolen gun arrested

Wilmington police logoWILMINGTON, DELAWARE (7/21/2015) A Philadelphia man was arrested in Wilmington on gun charges after officers saw a vehicle driving with the lights off, city police said today.

The vehicle was first spotted about 11:40 p.m. Monday  in the 1700 block of N. Church St., and then Patrolman Brandon Mosley saw it in the 800 block of Vandever Ave. with several people standing alongside.

As he approached, a man later identified as Bernard Bryant, 23, of Philadelphia, fled on foot.

Police said officers saw Bryant discard an FNH 9 mm semi-automatic handgun they later recovered.

The gun had been reported stolen in Philadelphia, police said.

Bryant was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm and resisting arrest.
