Motorcyclist injured in crash

FREDERICA, DELAWARE (6/15/2015) A motorcyclist was injured Sunday when his bike struck the back of a car north of Frederica, Delaware State Police said today.

The accident happened just before noon on Barratt’s Chapel Road just east of Buffalo Road.

Robert T. Blackburn, 52, of Milford, was westbound on a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he struck the rear of a 2011 Buick Regal that had slowed to turn into a driveway, police said.

Blackburn was flown to Christiana Hospital in Stanton by state police helicopter with injuries not life-threatening, police said.

The driver of the buick, Michael T. Welch, 30, of Magnolia, was not injured.

Police said Blackburn was wearing an approved helmet and Welch was wearing a seat belt.
