Bicyclist, 19, dies after Route 1 crash

DSP logoREHOBOTH BEACH, DELAWARE (6/6/2015) A 19-year-old bicyclist struck by a car on Route 1 northwest of Rehoboth has dies of her injuries, Delaware State Police said this afternoon.

The victim was identified as Nadiia Misa, 19, of the Ukraine. She was pronounced dead about 7:45 a.m. at the Beebe Healthcare’s hospital in Lewes.

The accident happened about 8:50 p.m. Friday as she was attempting to ride across the southbound lanes of Route 1 (Coastal Highway) at Miller Road.

Misa was struck by a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire driven by Daniel L. Furr Jr. 30, of Dover. Police said Furr was in the center lane and had a green light.

The impact threw the woman into the left-hand lane. Furr brought his vehicle to a stop in the bus lane.

Furr was not injured.

Police said they are still investigating the accident.
