Armed robber gets cash at Dollar General on Kirkwood Highway

ELSMERE, DELAWARE (6/5/2015) An armed robbery this morning at the Dollar General store on Kirkwood Highway west of Elsmere is being investigated by Delaware State Police.

According to early reports from the scene, the robbery happened just after the 8 a.m. opening of the store at 2400 Kirkwood Highway, in the Roselle area.

Police said the masked robber, armed with a handgun, confronted a 65-year-old clerk and demanded money from the register. She turned over an undisclosed amount and the robber fled, running to the west.

He was described as 5-feet-8 to 5-feet 9, with thin build and light complexion. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray jacket, dark pants and dark shoes.
