NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (2/2/2015) A 48-year-old man was assaulted by one of four men who tried to rob him when he refused their demands, state police said today.

The robbery attempt was reported at 8:35 p.m. Sunday in the rear parking lot of the Wawa store at 531 E. Basin Road (Route 41).

The store was the scene of another robbery late last week.

In Sunday’s crime, the victim was approached by four males, one armed with a handgun, who demanded money.

The victim was not injured in the assault, police said, and the robbers — described as 5-feet-9 to 6 feet tall — were last seen running toward William Penn Village Apartments. All were wearing black hooded sweatshirts and wore masks.

Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale of state police asked anyone with information to call 302-834-2630.
