NEWARK, DELAWARE (2/7/2015) A warning for city of Newark water customers on the east side of town to boil water after a main ruptured on Friday was lifted today, according to a notice on the city’s website.

The lifting of the warning for customers in the area of Capitol Trail (Route 2) and Possum Park Road came after water quality tests.

The break in the 8-inch water main on Capitol Trail had disrupted traffic for hours Friday morning as the water main and then the road surface underwent repairs.

Officials issued the water warning over concerns that bacteria may have contaminated the supply line.
