Police identify Hockessin man, 34, killed by hit-run driver

HOCKESSIN, DELAWARE (2/29/2016) Delaware State Police this morning identified a 34-year-old Hockessin man struck and killed by an unknown hit-and-run driver.

The accident happened about 9:30 p.m. Sunday on Lancaster Pike at Ace Memorial Drive, about 11oo feet south of the Pennsylvania line.

Police said Jeremiah McCarthy was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle that is believed to have fled north on Lancaster Pike.

The force of the collision threw McCarthy onto the shoulder. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police asked anyone with information on the car or driver to call Cpl. John Forester at 302-365-8485.
