Motorcyclist seriously injured in Newport crash

NEWPORT, DELAWARE (5/1/2018) A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash on northbound Route 141 in Newport this afternoon, authorities said.

The crash happened about 4:40 p.m. at the Newport on-ramp from North James Street.

When New Castle County paramedics arrived, they found a 43-year-old man down in the roadway. He had been separated from the bike in the crash, said paramedic Senior Cpl. David J. McKinney Jr.

The man was treated for injuries to the head, face, abdomen, pelvis and leg, then flown by Delaware State Police helicopter to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.

The crash is under investigation by Newport police.

Minquas and Elsmere fire companies responded.
