RED LION, DELAWARE (1/23/2018) A 35-year-old Bear man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Red Lion on Monday afternoon, the Delaware State Police said.

The crash was reported at 3:39 p.m. on northbound Route 7 (Bear Corbitt Road) just north of Route 71 (Red Lion Road).

Police said the man, later identified as Jared J. Armbruster, was operating a 2005 Harley Davidson XLL motorcycle and had just turned from eastbound Route 71 to northbound Route 7 when he lost control of the bike.

Armbruster became separated from the motorcycle and tumbled into the undercarriage and front left tire of a 2006 Buick Rendezvous that was stopped at a red traffic light on southbound Route 7. The motorcycle came to rest on the northbound shoulder.

Armbruster, who police said was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Buick, a 57-year-old Bear woman whose name wasn’t released, was not injured.

Northbound Route 7 was closed about two hours as the crash was investigated.

Police said they are still investigating and anyone with information is asked to call Cpl. J. Aube at 302-365-8483.
