WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (4/25/2018) A Wilmington woman was arrested after a 24-year-old man was shot in the leg, city police reported Tuesday.

The shooting happened in the 1000 block of N. Heald St.

Police said they stopped a vehicle for a red-light violation about 9 p.m. Monday in the area of Fourth and Orange streets, and the female driver told officers the man in the front seat had been shot.

He was given medical treatment at the scene, then taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital and was in stable condition, police said.

Detectives determined the shooting stemmed from an argument, with one shot fired into the man’s leg.

Police identified the suspect as Maya Lewis, 37, of the 2300 block of Lamotte St. in Wilmington.

She was taken into custody and charged with first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Lewis was being held at Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution near New Castle in lieu of $70,000 cash bail.
