NEWPORT, DELAWARE (12/5/2017) Pothole repairs will require lane closures at the Interstate 95/495 split near Newport over the weekend, the Delaware Department of Transportation announced this morning.
The repairs in the northbound lanes will begin at 9 p.m. Friday and end by 5 a.m. Monday, but weather could delay the work.
DelDOT says the concrete has deteriorated in the center lane of I-495 just past the split, with significant potholes that have brought complaints from motorists.
With colder temperatures approaching that could worsen the potholes, DelDOT decided to repair the worst damage this weekend.
For safety reasons, DelDOT said, crews will close two lanes to repair the holes in the center lane. One lane will remain open for traffic at all times.
