Woman struck, killed in Kirkwood Highway hit-and-run

PRICES CORNER, DELAWARE (9/30/2017) A 50-year-old woman walking across Kirkwood Highway was killed early today when she was struck by a dark-colored pickup truck that didn’t stop, Delaware State Police said.

The hit-and-run pedestrian fatality happened about 12:35 a.m. near Farrand Drive.

Witnesses reported the woman crossed from the south side of Kirkwood Highway (Route 2) when she stepped into the path of the westbound truck.

Police said the victim wasn’t carrying a light and wasn’t using a crosswalk.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police withheld her name pending notification of next of kin.

Kirkwood Highway was closed about two hours as police investigated.
