PIKE CREEK, DELAWARE (9/27/2017) A 74-year-old woman killed in the collision of a car and a tractor-trailer on Tuesday was identified this morning by Delaware State Police.

The crash happened about 3:20 a.m. at Limestone Road (Route 7) and New Linden Hill Road.

Police said Kathleen P. Yearick, of Wilmington, died after her 2002 Toyota Corolla was struck on the left side by a 1995 Freightliner tractor-trailer.

Yearick was eastbound on New Linden Hill Road entering the intersection when her car was struck on the left side by the right front of the truck, which was southbound in the right lane of Limestone Road.

The Toyota came to rest in the right lane and shoulder just south of the intersection.

The tractor-trailer crossed a concrete median, returned to the southbound lanes and overturned, spilling its load of chicken feed.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 58-year-old Pennsylvania man whose name has not been released, was treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics, then taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

The crash is still under investigation and police asked that anyone who may have witnessed it contact Master Cpl. Joseph Aube at 302-365-8483.

The southbound lanes Limestone Road were closed about 6 hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
