NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (7/13/2017) An injured worker was rescued by firefighters 80 feet above the ground at an industrial site north of New Castle, authorities said.

The rescue in the 300 block of Cherry Lane, near the Delaware Memorial Bridge, happened about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Holloway Terrace Fire Company responded, and then received assistance from the Wilmington Fire Department, which performed the rescue using an on-site crane.

Three firefighters climbed the tower to stabilize the worker and he was then lowered to the ground to waiting emergency medical crews.

He was then taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.

Deputy Chief James R Jobes said the worker’s injuries were not life-threatening.
