The fire in the first block of Belmont Drive, in the Limestone Hills development, was reported at 10:17 p.m.

Mill Creek firefighters found heavy flames and smoke coming from the single-family home when they arrived.

Other fire companies were called in to assist.

Firefighters rescued the man from the home and he was treated by emergency crews at the scene. He was first taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, then transferred to Crozer Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pennsylvania.

Robert Fox, chief deputy state fire marshal, said the fire was accidental and caused by an unknown malfunction in the engine compartment of a vehicle parked in the garage.
