GREENWOOD, DELAWARE (4/22/2017) A Maryland woman was killed Friday in a single-vehicle crash west of Greenwood.
Delaware State Police said the victim, later identified as Brette F. Geller of Pikesville, Maryland, was eastbound on Hickman Road (Route 16) west of McDowell Road, about 3 p.m. when her 2016 Cadillac SRX4 left the north side of the road.
The Cadillac went about 700 feet in a field, struck a ditch and overturned end-to-end, Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale said.
Geller was trapped in the vehicle until she was extricated by emergency medical crews. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Geller was wearing a seat belt.
Hickman Road was closed in both directions about 2.5 hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
Police initially reported the victim was a man.
