Driver flees after pedestrian struck, killed in Bear

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (3/26/2017) A pedestrian died after being struck by an SUV early today off U.S. 40 west of New Castle, the Delaware State Police said. The SUV then struck a parked vehicle and the Alpha Worship Center, and the driver fled on foot.

The fatal collision happened about 1:25 a.m. Saturday near El Nuevo Rodeo, 2000 Firedancer Lane.

Police said the pedestrian was walking in the parking lot of the restaurant when struck by a Cadillac Escalade.

The pedestrian was treated by New Castle County paramedics, then taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton and pronounced dead.

The victim’s name has not been released.
