ELKTON, MARYLAND (2/27/2017) A 27-year-old Newark, Delaware, woman died early today when the car she was driving struck a tree north of Elkton, the Maryland State Police said.
The crash happened about 2:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Elks Mill Road.
Police said a Chevrolet Cruz with Delaware tags was westbound west of Appleton Road when it veered from the roadway for unknown reason and struck the tree.
The driver and only occupant of the car was identified as Tanya Lynn Horn. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in the crash, police said, and they are continuing to investigate.
