Claymont man, 29, killed in shooting near New Castle

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (2/21/2019) A 29-year-old Claymont man was identified today as the victim of a fatal shooting at the Coachman’s Manor Apartments near New Castle.

The shooting in the 1500 block of Surry Court happened about 4 a.m. Saturday.

New Castle County police officers found the body of the man, John Marcus Fryer of the 1100 block of Worth Lane, on the sidewalk.

He had returned to the apartments with his girlfriend when someone emerged from the side of the building, ran past the couple and fired a single shot that struck Fryer, said Cpl. Tracey Duffy.

The shooter, who has not been identified, then fled to the opposite side of the building.

Duffy asked anyone with information to call police at 302-573-2800.
