Fire at townhomes near New Castle called arson

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (1/19/2017) A fire that caused $300,000 damage in the New Castle Pointe townhome community west of New Castle has been ruled arson, the Delaware state Fire Marshals Office said.

Christiana Fire Company was called out to battle the blaze at 6 Fresconi Court, off Route 273, shortly after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

As the fire spread to the two adjoining occupied units, a second alarm brought firefighters from Wilmington Manor, Good Will, Minquas of Newport and Elsmere fire companies.

 

Six people were displaced by the fire, said Michael G. Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal.

He asked anyone with information on the blaze to call the state fire marshal’s New Castle Division at 302-323-5375.
