Teenager shot in face in Dover

DOVER, DELAWARE (12/13/2016) A 17-year-old boy was shot in the face in Dover on Monday night, city police said this morning.

The incident happened about 7:20 p.m. in the 1400 block of S. Farmview Drive.

Police responded for a report of shots fired in the area and were then notified that the victim had arrived at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital.

The teen had been hit by bird shot, which is small pellets fired from a shotgun shell, and his wounds are not life-threatening, Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

A home in the area also was struck by gunfire but no other injuries were reported.

Hoffman said police are still investigating the motive for the shooting.
