UPDATED STORY: Victim identified, police seek SUV seen near crime

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (12/8/2016) A 35-year-old man was the victim of a homicide in downtown Wilmington on Wednesday night, city police said this morning.

The man was found shortly after 9 p.m. in the 900 block of N. Market St.

Police said arriving officers found him bleeding heavily from his neck area.

He was treated by New Castle County paramedics and taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police cordoned off the area around the Del-One Federal Credit Union office at 901 N. Market St. as they investigated.

Initial reports from the scene indicated the man had been shot, but authorities said an autopsy is planned by the Delaware Division of Forensic Science to determine how he died.
