MOUNT CUBA, DELAWARE (11/22/2016) A fire burned brush and leaves across about 20 acres of woods at the Mount Cuba Center this afternoon, according to reports from the scene.

The fire was placed under control shortly before 6 p.m. after more than a dozen fire companies assisted Hockessin firefighters, who spent several hours at the scene.

Smoke from the blaze could be seen from miles away.

Tank trucks were used to bring in water for the firefighting effort.

There were no injuries reported and no damage to buildings. The botanical garden is closed for the season.
