3 taken to hospital after campers stung at Rockwood Park

PENNY HILL, DELAWARE (8/10/2016) Three children were taken to a hospital after a dozen campers were stung by flying insects this afternoon, authorities said.

The incident happened shortly before 11 a.m. at Rockwood Museum & Park off Shipley Road and Washington Street Extension.

The children stung ranged in age from 7 to 12, said Sgt. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

The three were taken to Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Rockland in stable condition while the other nine were evaluated for injuries and awaited arrival of their parents, Haas said.

Brandywine Hundred, Talleyville and Claymont fire companies responded as well as New Castle County police.
