Ed's Chicken & Crabs restaurant in Dewey Beach was destroyed by fire after a car ran into it. (Photo: Delaware Free News)DEWEY BEACH, DELAWARE (8/9/2016) A fire that started when a vehicle ran into Ed’s Chicken & Crabs restaurant in Dewey Beach early today destroyed the business, authorities said.

Firefighters from Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, Bethany Beach and Indian River responded to the blaze on Coastal Highway (Route 1) at Swedes Street at 2:12 a.m.

Dewey Beach police pulled the driver out of the wreckage, according to the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company.

Firefighters were on the scene for more than 2 hours.

No injuries were reported.

Dewey Beach police and the Delaware state Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating.
