Fire hits home in Wilmington Manor; $70,000 damage

Fire hit home on Stahl Avenue in Wilmington Manor. (Photo: Delaware Free News)NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (8/8/2016) Fire broke out at a home in the Wilmington Manor neighborhood near New Castle late this morning, causing $70,000 damage and displacing five adults and four children, authorities said.

Wilmington Manor firefighters were called to the home at 418 Stahl Ave. shortly after 11 a.m., with smoke and flames showing when they arrived.

Holloway Terrace and other fire companies assisted in fighting the blaze, which was immediately behind a McDonald’s restaurant on U.S. 13 (North DuPont Highway).

No injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross of Delmarva is assisting the displaced residents.

 

Cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
