3 seriously hurt in Bear head-on crash

BEAR, DELAWARE (8/1/2016) Three people were seriously injured in a head-on crash in Bear, authorities said Sunday.

The collision of two vehicles happened about 9:45 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Salem Church Road.

One person was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by Christiana firefighters, said Cpl. David J. McKinney Jr. of New Castle County paramedics. He was treated at the scene for head, chest and abdomen injuries, then taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.

A female  who was found on the ground outside of a vehicle was suffering from distal and upper extremity injuries, McKinney said. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Another female was suffering from lower extremity injuries and also taken to the hospital.

All three were in serious but stable condition, McKinney said.

Christiana and Delaware City fire company ambulances responded.

The crash is under investigation by Delaware State Police.
