OCEAN VIEW, DELAWARE (8/1/2016) A burglary suspect was captured by Ocean View police early today after an officer stopped a car for traffic violations, Delaware State Police said.

State troopers were investigating a burglary alarm at the Bethany Bay Homeowners Association clubhouse, at 37270 Clubhouse Lane, reported at 1:52 a.m.

They found a shattered sliding glass door and damaged computer.

As they were investigating, the Ocean View officer stopped a silver Volkswagen Passat in the area of Central and Woodland avenues.

The officer noticed fresh cuts on the man’s body and a hammer, pry bar and some gloves, state police said.

Troopers, meanwhile, obtained video surveillance from the clubhouse manager and matched the description of the burglar and vehicle that left the scene with the Ocean View traffic stop.

Police also determined a lock box containing cash had been stolen from the clubhouse.

Joshua W. Hunter, 24, of Dagsboro, was charged by state police with third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, theft over $1,500 and criminal mischief. He was being held at Sussex Correctional Institution near Georgetown in lieu of $3,250 secured bond.
