Woman seriously injured when car overturns, catches fire

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (8/2/2016) A 44-year-old woman was in serious condition after a fiery crash in New Castle on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

The woman’s car overturned onto its roof shortly before 2 p.m. at Frenchtown Road (Route 273) and Centerpoint Boulevard.

Firefighters extinguished a fire in the small sedan.

The woman, the only occupant of the car, was treated for a head, arm and leg injuries, then taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, said Sgt. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

Two others in another vehicle were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

City police are investigating the crash.

Good Will, Minquadale and Wilmington Manor fire companies responded.
