MILLSBORO, DELAWARE (7/15/2016) A 70-year-old man died in a crash north of Millsboro on Thursday, the Delaware State Police reported this morning. Two other people were injured.
The two-vehicle collision happened about 5:50 p.m. at the Bethesda Road and Avenue of Honor intersection.
Police said Bradford L. Grimm, 70, of Millsboro, was driving a 1996 Honda Accord south on Bethesda Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection.
His car was struck by a westbound 2003 Chevy Trailblazer SUV that had the right of way, police said.
The front of the SUV struck the driver’s side of the car, causing it to spin around. The car struck a sign post and utility pole before coming to a stop.
The Trailblazer also spun around and came to rest in a field off the southwest corner of the intersection.
Grimm was taken by ambulance to Beebe Healthcare’s hospital in Lewes, where he was pronounced dead. Police said he had been wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the SUV, Stacey A. Hastings, 32 of Bridgeville, and her 1-year-old son were taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, treated for injuries and released. Police said both were properly restrained in the vehicle.
The intersection was closed about 2½ hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
