

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (7/13/2016) A contingent of fire apparatus from around the state converged on Wilmington this morning to escort the body of volunteer firefighter Tim McClanahan, who died Monday after falling from a Delaware State Police helicopter during a training exercise near Georgetown.
Delaware State Police issued a traffic alert suggesting motorists allow extra time or find alternate routes to avoid delays.
The fire apparatus from around the state headed to Wilmington around 7 a.m., using U.S. 113, Route 1 and Interstate 95 to the Martin Luther King Boulevard exit. The firefighters staged at Blue Rocks Stadium for a short time.
The escort of McClanahan’s body was traveling south on I-95 to Route 1, continuing to Parsell Funeral Home near Lewes.
