Elsmere teen charged with 2 Wilmington shootings

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (7/13/2016) A 16-year-old Elsmere boy was arrested this morning and charged in connection with the shooting of two people in Wilmington last week, authorities said.

In the shootings Friday in the 600 block of W. Sixth St., a 15-year-old boy was wounded in his abdomen and a lower extremity and was in critical condition, Wilmington police said. A 22-year-old woman was shot in her left leg.

The 16-year-old was arrested at 6 a.m. at a home in Elsmere.

He was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, three counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and two counts of second-degree conspiracy.

The 16-year-old, whose name was not released by police, was being held at the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of $120,000 cash bail.

Elijah Crawford, Sr., 40, of Elsmere, also was arrested at the Elsmere home, police said, and charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.

Police said they seized a Ruger .30 caliber revolver with four rounds of ammunition, a Strum .22 caliber revolver with six rounds of ammunition, 16 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition and seventeen 16-gauge shotgun shells from the Elsmere home.
