DAGSBORO, DELAWARE (7/9/2016) A man killed Friday night when the SUV he was driving crashed while being pursued by Dagsboro police was identified this evening by Delaware State Police.

The crash was reported at 11:24 p.m. on DuPont Boulevard (U.S. 113) along the western border of Frankford.

Dagsboro police were pursuing the 1996 Ford Explorer, through several municipalities, for multiple traffic violations including driving the wrong way on a divided highway, state police said.

The driver – identified as Edward Wallace Jones, 40, of Preston, Maryland – lost control of the SUV while attempting an abrupt lane change in the northbound lanes. The SUV spun around and overturned several times as it crossed the Daisey Street intersection, landing on its roof in the grass on the north edge of Daisey Street.

Jones was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The intersection was closed about three hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
