3 rob Rite Aid pharmacy in Claymont; customers forced down

CLAYMONT, DELAWARE (7/9/2016) Three robbers escaped with drugs from a Rite Aid pharmacy in Claymont after ordering customers down on the floor Friday night, Delaware State Police reported this morning.

The robbery happened about 8:50 p.m. at 2713 Philadelphia Pike, in the Town & Country Shopping Center.

One of the robbers, armed with a handgun, confronted a 55-year-old woman who was working behind the pharmacy counter. He demanded prescription drugs and she turned over various medications.

A second robber, also armed with a handgun, entered the store and demanded two customers get on the floor, then he headed to the pharmacy, police said.

The third robber stood just outside the doorway and continued to tell the customers to remain on the floor. Police said it wasn’t known if he was armed.

After getting the drugs, the trio fled to the southeast.

The pharmacist was slightly injured but did not require medical attention, police said.

The first robber was described as a black man, 25-35 years old, 6 feet to 6-feet-2 and 180-200 pounds. He was wearing a light colored T-shirt, black pants and had a mask covering his face.

The second was described as a black male, 5-feet-7 to 5-feet-9 and 160 pounds. He was wearing a light camouflage jacket, blue shorts and a red baseball hat.

The third was described as black man, 25-35 years old, 5-feet-9 to 5-feet-11 and 180-190 pounds. He was wearing a blue shirt, blue pants and blue baseball hat.
