MILFORD, DELAWARE (6/27/2016) An 18-year-old Greenwood man has been charged with robbing and punching a resident of the Brightway Commons apartments in Milford, city police reported today.

Police said Daniel J. Elliot went to the complex about 3:30 a.m. June 19 and knocked on the door of a 49-year-old man who was an acquaintance.

He was let in by the man and as the two talked, the resident turned his back on Elliot to open the refrigerator to get a beverage for him, Sgt. Dwight Young said.

“At this time, Elliot struck the victim in the back of the head with a metal cane. Elliot then began punching the victim. A short time later, Elliot allowed another unknown male into the residence of the victim. Both Elliot and the unknown male then removed the victim’s property from the residence and fled,” Young said.

The resident was taken by ambulance to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for injuries to his head and torso, Young said, and later released.

Elliot was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony, second-degree conspiracy and third-degree assault.

He was being held at Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $21,500 secured bond.
