UPDATED STORY: Police release name of man killed

BEAR, DELAWARE (6/24/2016) An 18-year-old man was shot to death this evening in a vehicle at the Apple Chase Apartments in Bear, the New Castle County police said.

Police said the victim and two passengers were in a car in the parking lot of the apartment complex when someone approached and fired a gun, hitting the driver.

The driver then drove off, causing an accident at Scotland Drive and Pulaski Highway (U.S. 40), police said.

A Delaware State Police trooper arriving at the crash discovered the driver had a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he later was pronounced dead, county Cpl. Tracey Duffy saiod.

County police are investigating the homicide and the crash.
