17-year-old boy critically injured in house fire

WOODSIDE, DELAWARE (6/24/2016) A 17-year-old boy was critically injured in a house fire east of Woodside, authorities said.

The fire happened about 7 a.m. Thursday in the first block of Orange St. in the Paris Villa community.

Magnolia firefighters found smoke pouring from the single-story home when they arrived, then entered the home and rescued the teenager, said Michael G. Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal.

The boy was suffering from smoke inhalation and was taken by ambulance to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover.

Deputy fire marshals are trying to determine how the fire started.

Damage was estimated at $25,000.
