Karate instructor held on rape charges

OGLETOWN, DELAWARE (5/13/16) A 28-year-old karate instructor has been charged with multiple counts of rape, New Castle County police said Thursday.

Carlos Villa, of the 1700 block of Coventry Lane in Ogletown, was arrested after a victim reported to a trusted adult that he had touched her inappropriately multiple times between  December 2010 and March 2011, police said.

The incidents were reported to police in March, Cpl. Tracey Duffy said, and investigators then learned of another incident.

Villa was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust, three counts of second-degree rape and one of first-degree rape. He was being held at Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $220,000 secured bail.
