Police chase car in two states after shot fired

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (4/23/2016) Police chased a car into New Jersey and back into Delaware after a shot was reported fired in the Collins Park community near New Castle on Friday night, authorities said.

The iniitial reports sent New Castle County police to the 400 block of Single Ave. at 10:16 p.m.

The shooter had reportedly fled on foot and a possible victim was in a black vehicle, Cpl. Tom Jackson said.

When officers arrived, the vehicle, a black Hyundai, fled with police in pursuit.

Delaware State Police, including a helicopter, New Castle City police, and other agencies in New Jersey joined the chase.

The car eventually returned to Delaware and stopped in parkland in Collins Park. A passenger surrendered to officers but the driver fled and was apprehended by a K-9. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of a minor injury from the K-9.

Police have not located any victim, Jackson said, but witnesses reported a black male in black clothing fled the area after the shot was heard.
