WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (4/21/2016) A 16-year-old girl died this morning after what city police called a “serious assault” at Howard High School of Technology.

The incident was reported at 8:18 a.m. at 401 E. 12th St.

At a news conference attended by Mayor Dennis Williams, the school principal, Stanley Spoor, said two other students believed involved in the incident are being questioned by Wilmington police.

The victim was a 10th grader from New Castle, Spoor said.

She died after being flown to Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Rockland.

Police said information is limited on the assault and more information would be provided later. Police initially reported the victim was 15 years old but later revised that to 16.

Students were kept in their classrooms until 10:15 a.m. and then dismissed for the day, Spoor said.
