TOWNSEND, DELAWARE (3/12/2016) A 21-year-old woman was killed early today when her car struck a utility pole and overturned west of Townsend, the Delaware State Police said.
The accident happened about 2 a.m. in the 700 block of Caldwell Corner Road.
Police said Gabriela J. Beduch, of Middletown, was pronounced dead at the scene.
She was driving a 2004 Acura RSX westbound on a slight right curve when the car left the north side of the road and she over-corrected, police said, with the vehicle spinning around, crossing to the south side and sliding sideways through grass before hitting the pole with the left side, then rolling onto the roof.
Police said Beduch was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
The road was closed about 4.5 hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
