16-year-old boy killed crossing U.S. 13 in Dover

DOVER, DELAWARE (3/12/2016) A 16-year-old boy was fatally struck by a car while crossing U.S. 13 in Dover on Friday night, city police said this morning.

The accident happened shortly before 8 p.m. on South DuPont Highway (U.S. 13) near Evergreen Drive.

Police said Enfimus Deputy, of Dover, was wearing all dark clothing and was in an area without a crosswalk or intersection or lighting.

Deputy was struck by a northbound Chevrolet Impala. He was taken by ambulance to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Cpl. Mark Hoffman said a black 1990s model Ford Mustang also is believed to have been involved in the accident but left the area before police arrived.
