FELTON, DELAWARE (3/10/2016) A 29-year-old man was in critical condition after colliding with an SUV west of Felton, the Delaware State Police reported Wednesday.

The crash happened about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on Sandtown Road west of Cabin Ridge Road.

Paul J. Perry, of Felton, was driving a 2002 Kawasaki Ninja eastbound when a 2004 Jeep Liberty in front of him slowed to turn into a driveway.

Perry braked and skidded 62 feet before the bike slid on its side and struck the right rear corner of the Jeep, police said.

Perry, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the bike and landed on the side of the road.

He was flown to Christiana Hospital in Stanton by state police helicopter.

The driver of the Jeep, Rhonda A. Martin, 63, of Felton, was wearing a seat belt and wasn’t injured, police said.

Sandtown Road was closed about 3.5 hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.

Police asked any witnesses to call Sgt. M. Groce at 302-698-8518.
