WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (3/7/2016) A 23-year-old man was killed this evening in a shooting at a memorial service for a man who died from gunfire last week.

The latest shooting happened about 6:45 p.m. in the 1200 block of W. Seventh St.,  city police said.

According to reports from the scene, the shooting happened as a memorial was being held in a vacant lot just a few yards from where 22-year-old  Samuel “Chicago or Sumo” Copeland was fatally wounded Friday night.

The group gathered for tonight’s memorial had just disbanded when the gunfire erupted.

Police said officers found the man down when they arrived with an apparent gunshot wound to the back. He was treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics and taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The name of tonight’s victim has not been released.
