1 dead in fire near Rehoboth Beach

REHOBOTH BEACH, DELAWARE (3/1/2016) One person died this morning when fire swept through a home in the Sea Air Village community west of Rehoboth Beach, authorities said.

The fire at 19940 Center Ave. was reported just after 5 a.m., according to the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company.

The singlewide mobile home was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived, with the fire extending to adjacent homes.

As firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, the victim was discovered under the debris.

State police and the Delaware State Fire Marshal are on the scene investigating.

No firefighter injuries were reported.

Crews from Rehboth, Lewes and Indian River were on the scene for more than 3 hours.
