ST. GEORGES, DELAWARE (2/13/2016) Dozens of volunteers are searching in frigid weather today for a missing Dover Air Force Base airman.
Senior Airman Keifer Huhman, of the 436th Communications Squadron, did not report for duty on Monday and was listed as missing by the Air Force.
Dover city police also joined the investigation and said they learned Huhman was last seen about 6 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at his home in the Blue Hen Apartments.
Huhman was driving a blue 1997 Ford Ranger pickup with Florida tags that was found Sunday night on the shoulder of the Route 1 Roth Bridge, which spans the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal near St. Georges.
Dover police, along with a state police helicopter and marine units and state natural resources police searched the area of the bridge but did not locate Huhman, said Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman of Dover police.
Dover police were processing the pickup truck for evidence and Hoffman said his agency has been working closely with base investigators.
“Despite the discovery of the truck and its location, the Dover Police Department and DAFB Office of Special Investigations are continuing the investigation as a missing person’s case with assistance from the Delaware State Police and DNREC Police,” Hoffman said.
He asked anyone with information to call police at 302-736-7130 or local law enforcement.
