Passenger, 42, dies of injuries from Long Neck DUI crash

LONG NECK, DELAWARE (2/8/2016) A 42-year-old man died today from injuries in a January crash in Long Neck, the Delaware State Police said.

Joseph E. Deldeo Sr., of Millsboro, was initially taken by ambulance to Beebe Healthcare’s hospital in Lewes, then flown to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he died today.

He was a left rear seat passenger in a 2003 Saturn Ion that crashed into a tree on Long Neck Road near Bay Road on Jan. 17. Police said he wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

The driver, Dillon Davis, 23, of Millsboro, who was not injured, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and other counts on the day of the crash, and police said today additional charges may be added.

Another injured passenger, a 21-year-old Millsboro woman, has since been released from the hospital, police said.
