55-year-old man seriously injured in Middletown rollover crash

MIDDLETOWN, DELAWARE (1/19/2016) A 55-year-old man was seriously injured in a crash in Middletown early today, authorities said.

The man was still trapped inside the vehicle when a New Castle County paramedic shift commander came across the accident at St. Annes Church Road and Levels Road just before 1 a.m.

The driver was able to get out of the vehicle himself and was treated for scrapes as well as neck and back pain before being flown to Christiana Hospital in Stanton by Delaware State Police helicopter, said Sgt. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

Haas said the man was in serious but stable condition.

Middletown police are investigating the crash.

Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown also responded.
