Man trapped in vehicle after crash into tree in Glasgow

GLASGOW, DELAWARE (1/6/2016) A 73-year-old man was trapped in a vehicle about 20 minutes on Tuesday after it went off the road and hit a tree, authorities said.

The crash happened just before 2 p.m. on Chesapeake City Road near Summit Bridge Road (U.S. 301/Route 896).

Firefighters from Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown freed the man from the wreckage.

He was assessed for injuries and flown to Christiana Hospital in Stanton by Delaware State Police Helicopter., said Lt. Michael A. McColley of New Castle County paramedics. The man was in stable condition.

State police are investigating the crash.

Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company of Newark also responded.
