LONG NECK, DELAWARE (12/22/2015) A 24-year-old Millsboro man is being sought after firing shots at and assaulting his girlfriend, Delaware State Police said Monday.

The incident happened about 7:45 p.m. Sunday in the 34000 block of Starboard Court, in the Rehoboth Shores development.

“The investigation revealed Cecil Hicks came to the residence looking for his 29-year-old girlfriend and was going to do harm to her with a weapon,” police said in a news release. “When he was informed by her 12-year-old daughter that she wasn’t at the house, he became extremely irritated and began damaging personal belongings in the house.”

The 12-year-old fled to a friend’s home nearby.

Hicks was then seen arguing with his 29-year-old girlfriend outside her home, police said.

When she began to run away, police said, Hicks pulled out a handgun and began shooting at her as he chased her.

He physically assaulted her, police said, before she fled with a friend in a vehicle.

Hicks also fled.

He faces charges of second-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, reckless endangering, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief.
